Singles Review: Smith Westerns – Weekend

This is more like it. Guitars glammed up to early Supergrass levels of buoyancy and with vocals that sound like the singer’s just been roused from some lysergic stupor, Weekend could slot perfectly into the back catalogue of the more palatable Britpop bands.

Chock full of fun and frothy ‘Na-na-nas’ and with a heart-soaring, breathless chorus that swoops and zooms its way into your affections. It’s a ready-made compilation tape humdinger for loved-up indie kids everywhere.
